Machnip's how I started all of this (I think a decade ago!) I had major depression stemming from being gay, isolated myself as a teen, and wanted to journal my thoughts.
I kept a real hidden folder on my computer (hidden in multiple folders in system files, as if it's a common place to be), planning to fill it with text documents as a journal, and draw Machnip to accompany the entries.
From what I remember, it lasted 2 text entries long! But Machnip survived, and I wrote out my entries instead of typing them.
Not sure why a rabbit, but they're cool. Don't know how the ear to nose thing works, but it's fun to draw. Originally was going to have only one eye show.
Brief bio:
Hates work, likes the idea of wandering around without having an end goal in mind; they exist. Mellow, looks a bit angry at times, but really just has their head full of thoughts.
The earliest photo of Machnip. I can't remember what the issue was when doing this.
Something more "close" to how they usually turn out when drawn. Sitting on the world's smallest stool.
"Die happy!"
Staring at the sun like a fool
"I met two personifications of god in a car. Thank you" "Shedding your skin"
This is where the journal aspect first really played into drawing these characters. I was so concerned about family finding these entries back then, that I wrote the text distorted and unreadable.
Funny now I'm just openly sharing them and love making patterns or shapes out of text.I usually forget what I write in all of these, for better or worse.
It's actually really freeing doing this
There's something about drawing eyes like that. Was probably empty doing this one
I was having issues when drawing this, but don't remember what they were.
I just remember I was listening to Amy Winehouse's Frank album and was inspired by the pink font color (RIP)
Video games were my childhood, and seeped in to adulthood. I'd escape so much just playing games, until realizing they were fucking me up with all the time spent on them.
I broke the habit and feel much better without them. I'm thankful though for the creativity and ideas they present.
I'll always adore Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, and Dance Dance Revolution for their music and art
